    - Lunch and Milk Procedures

Lunch and milk tickets may be purchased by students in the office each morning.  Parents may stop in any time to purchase tickets.  Please send the amount you wish deposited into more than one account, please use the “MEMO” section on your personal check.  Milk tickets are purchased as a 20-day ticket for $8.00.

When you enroll your child a meal ticket number, or account number, is assigned to him/her, which remains their account number for that school year.  The only time another account number is issued is when the ticket has been lost, damaged or mutilated.  Your student’s ticket is scanned by an Accu-scan machine on the day they choose to eat a hot meal only.  (A meal is not automatically deducted each day.)

Tickets are kept by the Food Service Secretary for all grades, and the students will tell the secretary if he/she is eating a hot meal each day when he/she comes down with the class for lunch.

When there are 2 days remaining on a ticket, the Accu-scan will automatically print a notice which reflects the account number, date and current balance.  The machine will continue printing notices (when there is 1 day left, -0 days left, and even a “-“ balance which indicates a charge) until more money is sent and deposited into the account.  The student is responsible for bringing the notice home for a parent/guardian to see.  If the student does not have lunch money, he/she will be allowed to charge a meal.  Unless we have written or verbal contact with a parent/guardian, when a student has a 2nd charge and there has been a chance for 4 notices to have gone home, it is our policy that he/she will miss the lunch recess (after eating lunch) so that a call can be make as a reminder that money needs to be deposited into the account.  This assures us that parents do know about the need for money, as sometimes we find that they have received none of the 4 previous notices!  A parent/guardian will also be notified in the event of a ticket being lost, damaged or mutilated since only 1 ticket per student is issued.

Students paying for a full priced meal can bring money on a daily basis, but the student is then responsible for bringing the money to the office in the morning.  Students may bring a cold lunch on any day they choose, and individual milk can be purchased at lunch only.

If a student is tardy and has not reported in to class by 9:00 a.m. they will not be counted on the hot lunch count.  You may call the school prior to 9:00 a.m. and request for your child to be counted for hot lunch.  If you do not call the student will be required to bring a cold lunch from home.

The reason for this is that we must order our school lunches from the main kitchen by 9:00 a.m.  If you have not notified us and we give your child a lunch we will not have enough food for the last group of children that we do have on our lunch count.

    - Money at School

Students should not bring money to school unless it is in an envelope clearly marked for a specific purpose.  Erasers/pencils/and note-books are for sale outside the school office.  Please monitor the amount of money your child brings to purchase these items.  The school cannot be responsible for money brought to school and lost by students.

    - Telephone Calls

During school hours, teachers will only accept emergency telephone calls.  However, secretaries will be glad to take messages with will be placed in teachers’ mailboxes and teachers will return calls at the first available time.  Teachers can also be reached by E-mail.  Ask your child’s teacher for his/her specific E-mail address.  Students may use the phone when necessary but only with written permission from teachers.  Arrangements for going home with a friend, or calling for a rid when they don’t feel like walking, should be made ahead of time and will not be considered necessary.

    - Lost and Found

All articles found on the school premises should be turned into the office.  Students should inquire about missing items after school dismissal.  Parents are welcome to come in and look anytime.  All articles will be placed in the lost and found boxes located on either side of the front entrance to the school.  For smaller items such as keys or jewelry, check in the office.  It is truly amazing the number or really nice articles of clothing that turn up in the lost and found boxes and are never claimed!  At the end of the year any unclaimed items are donated to Goodwill.
