    - Mission Statement:

    - Communications with Parents and Students:
     
- a monthly classroom newsletter showing objectives/curriculum to be covered, any help needed, and important dates/information

- reminder notes home before early releases or special events

- breakfast/lunch menus and monthly calendar

- parents/students/teacher orientations prior to the beginning of school

- parent/teacher conferences held twice each year (fall and spring)

- parent/teacher conferences held at the request of parent or teacher to discuss mutual concerns

-reminder of special dates and times will be posted on school marquee
 

 

  - Communications with Building And District Staff:
     
- weekly "Friday note" detailing special events, staff meetings, ESP meetings, classroom visitations, and principal's schedule for the coming week

-bi-monthly faculty meetings and team meetings (open agenda posted)  Open agenda posted on Mondays-minutes typed and put in staff mailboxes following each meeting

-bi-monthly Effective Schools Panel and Quality Performance Accreditation meetings on alternate Wednesday afternoons set agenda- minutes to members- welcome to attend any time

- district communications put in staff mailboxes on day received

-classroom observations with written follow-up on day of observation

- regularly scheduled Ad. Council/Principal's Council meetings held each month and minutes received and filed for the future reference in the office
 

    - Recognition Activities for Students, Staff, Parents and Volunteers:
     
- names of 2nd-5th grade student on academic honor rolls are are announced at school, published in news paper quarterly, and are signed on school bulletin board fore all to see throughout quarter

- elected Student Council providing school-wide leadership for community service activities

- volunteer recognition even held in late spring each year

- each student will participate in at least one music/PE program designed to showcase his/her special talents

- Terrific Kids recognition sponsored weekly by Kiawanis Club South

- recognition of staff through Shining Star nominations, at faculty meetings, and social activities held throughout the year

- most improved student recognized by Human Relations Board of Junction City.

- students with perfect attendance will be recognized quarterly
 

    - Communications with the News Media:
     
- special events/activities reported to Communications Coordinator via weekly Tip Sheet

- for some events, direct communication with news media is initiated

- any communication with news media will be cleared through the school office and/or the ESC
 

    - Communications with the Site Council, PTA Officers and Key Communicator Community Members:
     
- monthly Site Council meeting held at school site

- minutes of Site Council meetings and request for agenda items sent to each member two weeks before each meeting

- monthly PTA board meeting held at school site

- regularly scheduled PTA meetings

- Schools in Review Week held annually to showcase and report to the public our building goals and progress toward meeting school improvement goals
 

    - Communications/PR Activities with Neighborhood, Non-Parent patrons and Business Community:
     
- students may canvas Sheridan attendance areas with information/invitations to special events at school

- students are involved regularly in communication with community/business sector via field trips and invitations to participate in school activities or speak in individual classrooms
